The Housing Commission shall have all the powers and duties vested or permitted to be vested in housing commissions by Act 18 of the Extra Session of 1933, as amended (M.C.L.A. 125.615 et seq.), and any laws heretofore or hereafter enacted which are supplemental thereto. It is the intention of this chapter to vest in the Housing Commission all powers and duties permitted by law.
Below are the desired skills and traits that are helpful, though not required, for successful appointees to the Housing Commission:
- A long-range interest in the community
- Fairness, common sense, honesty and good moral character
- Knowledge of the City, its people, its customs and its ordinances
- Time to serve
- Familiarity with financial transactions, contracts, and administrative procedures practiced by the Housing Authority and should work to assure that such activities are instituted and conducted to the highest possible standards.
The Housing Commission will meet on the second Thursday every month at 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Senior Tower located at 1370 Electric.
